Increasing Global Terrestrial Diurnal Temperature Range for 1980–2021

چکیده

The 2021 IPCC report found that most studies show declining trends for the global diurnal temperature range (DTR) since 1950s, decreasing mainly during 1960–1980. This issue is revisited here using an up-to-date in-situ data set, Hadley Center Integrated Surface Database, constrained by rigorous station selection conditions. observed DTR trend was to reverse 1980–2021, increasing significantly at a rate of 0.091 ± 0.008°C decade−1. dominated faster daily maximum air temperature. in past four decades not fully captured raw CMIP6 models, as models only partially capture spatial patterns. With outputs and regionally-available observations, land then estimated, through emergent constraints, be 0.063 0.012°C study raises concern risks globally provides new insights into assessment.

Is Diurnal Temperature Range a Risk Factor for Childhood Diarrhea?

BACKGROUND Previous studies have found that high and cold temperatures increase the risk of childhood diarrhea. However, little is known about whether the within-day variation of temperature has any effect on childhood diarrhea. METHODS A Poisson generalized linear regression model combined with a distributed lag non-linear model was used to examine the relationship between diurnal temperatur...

Global climate change: impact of diurnal temperature range on mortality in Guangzhou, China.

Diurnal temperature range (DTR) is an important meteorological indicator associated with global climate change, but little is known about the effects of DTR on mortality. We examined the effects of DTR on cause-/age-/education-specific mortality in Guangzhou, a subtropical city in China during 2003-2010. A quasi-Poisson regression model combined with distributed lag non-linear model was used to...

Diurnal temperature range and childhood asthma: a time-series study

BACKGROUND Hot and cold temperatures have been associated with childhood asthma. However, the relationship between daily temperature variation and childhood asthma is not well understood. This study aimed to examine the relationship between diurnal temperature range (DTR) and childhood asthma. METHODS A Poisson generalized linear model combined with a distributed lag non-linear model was used...

Precipitation deficits increase high diurnal temperature range extremes

The relationship between precipitation deficits and extreme hot temperatures has been documented in observation and modeling studies. However, it is unclear whether and how increases in maximum temperatures will impact diurnal temperature range (DTR) extremes. Here, we used observational data sets from meteorological stations in China to examine the trends in high DTR extremes from 1971 to 2013...

Diurnal temperature range over Europe between 1950 and 2005

It has been widely accepted that diurnal temperature range (DTR) decreased on a global scale during the second half of the twentieth century. Here we show however, that the long-term trend of annual DTR has reversed from a decrease to an increase during the 1970s in Western Eu-rope and during the 1980s in Eastern Europe. The analysis is based on the high-quality dataset of the European Climate ...
